Putrajaya Masterplan
In December 1993, the Federal Government appointed a Consortium of six local urban planning consultants to prepare a comprehensive Masterplan for the new administrative city of Putrajaya. The consortium consists of Perunding Alam Bina Sdn Bhd, Akitek Jururancang (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, BEP Akitek Sdn Bhd, Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn Bhd, Minconsult Sdn Bhd and Rekarancang Sdn Bhd supported by relevant Government agencies completed and presented the Masterplan in February 1995.
Covering an area of 4,400 hectares, the site is located within Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) and between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). It adopts the Garden City concept which consists of a Core area, Neighbourhoods, Parklands and supporting facilities. The core is sub-divided into five precincts: Government, Commercial, Civic and Cultural, Mixed development and Sports and Recreational, surrounded by a water body and linked by bridges and boulevards
